Describe the theoretical foundations of cognitive behavioral therapy, including the reciprocal relationship among thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Apply the ABC(DEF) model to clinical case material to identify activating events, beliefs, emotional responses, and behavioral consequences.
Demonstrate core CBT techniques—including cognitive disputation, the downward arrow technique, and identification of common cognitive distortions—using practice scenarios.
Structure CBT sessions using agenda-setting, homework assignment, and feedback processes consistent with time-limited treatment models.
Analyze the appropriateness of CBT interventions when working with culturally diverse clients, including potential areas of cultural conflict and adaptation.
Evaluate the strengths and limitations of CBT for social work practice across individual, family, and group treatment contexts.
ACCREDITATION SWTP CEUs (provider number 2486), is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 10/24/2025 - 10/24/2026. POSTTEST REQUIREMENTS A 10-question posttest follows the course materials. A passing score of 80% is required to receive CE credit. Retakes are available if the passing score is not met.
CERTIFICATES To earn CE credit, participants must complete the full course, achieve a passing score of 80% on the posttest, and submit the course evaluation. Certificates of completion are issued automatically upon successful completion.
ASSIGNMENTS No outside assignments are required for this course.
